Govardhana, the Hill that Fulfills all Desires" is a virtual guide of the most holy place of pilgrimage for devotees of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna appeared on earth more than five thousand years ago and enacted intimate pastimes with His dear-most devotees who were hankering intensely for it. Hungry for many days, I came here to eat you. Then you hit me with a stone from Govardhana Hill. Then, by Lord Krishna’s kindness, I became very fortunate. As the liberated soul was speaking these words, a chariot, splendid as a thousand suns and drawn by ten thousand horses, came from Goloka. The chariot rumbled with a thousand wheels. The identity of Kṛṣṇa and Govardhana Hill is still honored, and great devotees take rocks from Govardhana Hill and worship them exactly as they worship the Deity of Kṛṣṇa in the temples. Devotees therefore collect small rocks or pebbles from Govardhana Hill and worship them at home, because this worship is as good as Deity worship.

Therefore, ever since the inauguration of Govardhana worship, people in Vrndavana still dress nicely and assemble near Govardhana Hill to offer worship and walk around the hill, leading their cows. In all the temples of Vrndavana and outside of Vrndavana, huge quantities of food are prepared and sumptuously distributed to the general population. The official name of this song is Govardhanastakam. This song is taken from the book Stavamrta Lahari. In this song, Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura describes the glories of Govardhana Hill and prays to Him to fulfill His desires. (1).
